I've Never Been To Africa

It is said that being called an African American is politically correct. I say stop calling us Black Americans by that so called politically correct term. Most Black Americans have never been to Africa and the only link we have to the motherland is from our ancestors. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that us as Black Americans get our strength and Blackness from having roots from Africa but I myself have no other connection with that continent other than that. It is also said that the oldest human remains were found in Africa. Does that make the whitest person in America an African American? Of course it doesn't, just like we are not either. Let's keep it simple and be proud of who we are. We are Black and just like Whites we should feel no negativity to the correct term for us as a people in America. I am an American first and if any distinction must be made then call me Black but also remember I'm proud so don't water it down or try to be nice by calling me an African American. I wish the the Blacks that have a chance to represent us on television would stop using that divisive term as well. Too many times I see Black commentators calling us African Americans and proud of it. Of course this is just my opinion but I feel so disrespected by the term African American.
